Ryan Mejaski of Bend and Joe Wilhite had been fishing for kokanee on the Deschutes arm of Lake Billy Chinook with out a lot luck after they determined to maneuver spots. After casting into a bunch of small kokanee that had been leaping to the floor, his secret lure sank to about 5 ft when he received a giant strike that took off screaming.
